March 21, 2020 – September 19, 2020:
Traditional Coconut Weaving with Maui Grown 808. Learn to work with lau niu (coconut leaves): weave, pattern, shaping, and form. Participants will weave a lei poo (head lei), peahi (fan), and a hanging umeke (basket) with cultural practitioners, Ui Kahue and Mario Siatris. Cost: $65, or $40 for current garden members. Email info@mnbg.org for reservations. Workshop support provided by Hawaii Tourism through the Kukulu Ola Program. Additional classes will be held on 6/20 & 9/19.
