Obon Dance & Festival – Hakalau Jodo Mission.  The summer Obon season perpetuates the Buddhist tradition of honoring the spirit of those passed on celebrated with special services and festivals. The festival includes food booths, taiko drummers and other colorful sights and sounds, bon dances that have become a cultural touchstone for all in Hawaii. Free to enjoy! Hakalau Jodo Mission: Services at 6 p.m. Obon festival at 7 p.m. Aug. 17, 29-2289 Hanamalo Loop in Hakalau.
