Kauai Mokihana Festival 2011. The 27th annual Kauai Mokihana Festival celebrates Year of Hula. Twenty five years ago the hula competition began only with kane (men) hula. In the 90’s, the festival added women and encouraged hula halau (schools) to utilize hula instruments during their performance. This seven day event is filled with Hawaiian culture experience of hula, Hawaiian and contemporary music, Hawaiian language, crafts, lectures, history and more.
