Battleship Missouri Memorial To Commemorate The End Of World War II. On Monday, 2 September, the Battleship Missouri Memorial invites the public to attend a special ceremony on the famed ship’s fantail commemorating 74 years of the official end of World War II. It all culminated on September 2, 1945, onboard the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay, where General Douglas MacArthur, Admiral Chester Nimitz and representatives of the Allied Powers accepted Japan’s formal surrender signifying the official end of the global conflict. For the 74th commemoration ceremony, U.S. Congressman Ed Case of Hawaii’s 1st Congressional District will be the keynote speaker. Congressman Case is a firm supporter of honoring the country’s promise to veterans and their families. Through his appointment on the House Committee on Appropriations Committee’s subcommittee on Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies; he dedicates time to improve veteran medical care, education, employment services, among other benefits. Major General Ronald P. Clark of the U.S. Army 25th Infantry Division joins the ceremony as a distinguished guest speaker. Upon graduating from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1988, Major General Clark continued to build upon a career of service across the country. During his time in Hawaii, he was assigned to the 25th Infantry Division (Light) at Schofield Barracks where he commanded B Company, 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, and later served as Aide-de-Camp to the Commanding General, 25th Infantry Division.
