South Maui Triathlon at Wailea. This is an Olympic distance swim, bike, run event that starts and finishes on the grounds of the beautiful Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa. The swim starts on the beach fronting the resort. The bike route goes out and up to the Kahekili Hwy and proceeds north bound and back to the resort. 12th Annual Maui Matsuri Festival

12th Annual Maui Matsuri Festival. A free Family Movie Night will be held on Friday, in the University of Hawaii – Maui College Student Center (Pilina Building). On Saturday, from 2 to 9 p.m., experience a bunka-mura (Japanese village), dotted with stalls selling mouth watering goodies and a variety of crafts. Enjoy the best of Maui County’s Japanese and Okinawan talent as well as traditional martial arts and eating contests, Saimin and natto eating contests, and a costume cosplay (costume play) contest. Japanese superheroes Kikaida and his friends headline the event at 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. The festival ends with a community obon dance starting from 7:30 pm.
