The Maui Crafts Guild in Paia announces an opening night for featured mosiac artist, Monica Morakis. Meet the artist and her newest creations in “The Art of the Ocean”, at the gallery reception from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at 69 Hana Highway. Maui Slam Poetry Event at Casanova’s.  Poets, spoken word artists, emcees of all levels, and anyone bold enough to step up to the mike and present their original work of three minutes or less are encouraged to compete for the $100 cash prize. This unique, wide-open poetry event will continue to include live art, theatrical performances, visual projections, music and dancing.  Casanova’s, corner of Baldwin Ave. and Makawao Ave., Makawao.  9:30 p.m.  Everyone is welcome.  $5 at the door for patrons 21 and older.

Maui Calls 2012.  Maui Calls is the MACC’s signature fundraiser gala, celebrated under the swaying coconut palms in the amphitheater.
