Chinese Heritage Festival

Chinese Heritage Festival.
  Lahaina celebrates the town’s enduring Chinese heritage and also honors the life and achievements of Dr. Sun Yat-Sen, known as The Father of Modern China. This annual celebration includes film tributes and displays depicting the life of Sun Yat-sen from Maui to China. Try Chinese martial arts, printmaking and cultural activities. Listen to Chinese traditional music while sampling Cantonese food and Chinese teas. Hula O Na Keiki.
  Maui’s only children’s solo hula competition. Children ages 5 to 17 compete in kahiko (traditional) and `auana (modern) style hula, as well as oli (chant) and costume. The competition encourages its young participants to develop a deeper understanding and appreciation for the art of hula and its roots in Hawaiian culture. The weekend event includes workshops, demonstrations, local Maui arts and crafts, and live Hawaiian entertainment for all to enjoy. Maui Humane Society’s Beach Buddies Visitor Program

Maui Humane Society’s Beach Buddies Visitor Program.
Do you miss having a dog to spend your day with? Visitors and residents can sign up to take a homeless dog out for the day from the Maui Humane Society animal shelter. The shelter is easy to find as it is conveniently located in Pu`unene (central Maui) on Mokulele Hwy., between Kihei/Wailea and Kahului. Program participants will pick “their dog” up at 10 a.m. and bring them back no later than 3 p.m. MHS provides all of the supplies, you just provide the fun!
