Hula Kahiko Performance by Kumu hula Micah Kamohoali`i with halau Na Kipu`upu`u. Hula halau from across Hawai`i and beyond have been invited to perform in a one-of-a-kind outdoor setting at the kahua hula (platform) in the Hawai`i Volcanoes National Park, located just a short walking distance from the Volcano Art Gallery in an area known as Ka`auea. 10:30 a.m. Audience members are encouraged to bring sun/rain gear and sitting mat. Kauai Orchid and Art Festival. Enjoy local music, great food and display of exotic, tropical orchids. Plein air painters are invited to paint in various locations around historic Hanapepe during the festival. Massage students will be available offering massage, and there will be a Kauai Made Products fair and silent auction. Take a workshop in orchid painting with oils or watercolor painting. Maui Pops Orchestra Goes to the Ballet. Maui Academy of Performing Arts (MAPA) partners with the Maui Pops to present the comic ballet Coppelia with music by Delibes. Premiered in Paris in 1870, it has become one of the most popular ballets of all time. Selected scenes from the ballet will fill one half of the concert, with the orchestra performing music of Verdi, Mendelssohn, and Stravinsky on the other.
