Women Helping Women Annual 5K and 10K Fun Run/Walk

Monday, March 12: 
Women Helping Women Annual 5K and 10K Fun Run/Walk.  3rd annual Run Because You Want to, Not Because You Have To run for domestic violence.  Run starts at 8 a.m., registration starts at 7 a.m. The easy flat course starts at the Green Banana Café, 137 Hana Hwy, in Paia and heads towards the airport.  It’s a fun way to help raise funds for Maui’s domestic violence shelter and support programs for victims of domestic violence.  Registration for 5k is $25, and 10k is $35, or free, respectively, with a minimum of $25 or $35 in pledges.  For information call Stacey Moniz at (808) 242-6000 or visit www.whwmaui.net.

Aloha Friday Boat Day Fundraiser

Aloha Friday Boat Day Fundraiser.  Experience the nostalgia and aloha of Hawaii’s old-time boat days, replete with colorful flower lei, graceful hula auana, and lively Hawaiian music.  The public is invited on board Holland America Line’s m.s. Rotterdam, which docks in the Hilo Harbor, for a benefit luncheon in the ship’s elegant La Fontaine Dining Room.  Served with wine, the benefit luncheon features a delicious four-course meal. Vegetarian options are available.  Live entertainment features Hawaiian music and hula.  Tickets are $65 and benefit the non-profit Friends of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Lahaina Whale and Ocean Arts Festival.  Lahaina celebrates the annual migration of Pacific Humpback whales with ocean arts festivities. Thursday and Friday evenings (7 to 9pm) feature marine biologist educational presentations and videos in Campbell Park, located next to The Wharf Cinema Center. On Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 5pm in Banyan Tree Park, artists display their best marine-themed art for sale, while Hawaiian musicians and hula troupes entertain.
