Laupahoehoe Music Festival.
The 2019 Laupahoehoe Music Festival will feature performances by LCPCS Ensemble, Ukulele, Rap Bands, Kanaka Tree, Brown Boyz. Hoku Pa`a with Darlene Ahuna, Blended Rootz featuring Lopaka Rootz, and Priscilla Momah.  There will be many other fun things to do during the event. Free poi pounding, free lei making and a free bounce house. Carnival-style games, face painting, and a photo booth will be available for a small fee. Vendors with crafts, clothing, and jewelry will be on site. Presale tickets $15, ages 10 & under free.  Tickets at the gate are $20.  Laupahoehoe Point Beach Park, 36-1043 Laupahoehoe Point Rd., Laupahoehoe.  9:30 a.m. to pau (rain or shine). When the new music teacher’s instruments go missing, Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Big Bird, and more come to the rescue and discover instruments they never knew existed. Children learn that everyone can make and enjoy beautiful music together.  Tickets: $15, $22, $35, $50/Gold Circle, $75/Sunny Seats (plus applicable fees).  Note: Sunny Seats are not available for purchase online. Annual Makawao Paniolo Parade.
  Enjoy this colorful Hawaiian style small town Wild West parade in Makawao, along Makawao and Baldwin Avenues. Road closures for the parade generally begin at 8:30 a.m., so plan accordingly.  8:45 a.m. – Stick Horse Race (everyone is welcome to participate); 9 to 11 a.m. – Parade. There will be no parking in town. Arrive early to park at Eddie Tam Community Center or at the Oskie Rice Arena, in Olinda, which has free shuttle service from 7 to 9 a.m., and back from the parade starting at 11:30 a.m.  For information call (808) 283-2741.

  Ali`i Drive along scenic Kailua Bay in Kailua-Kona becomes a festive pedestrian-only walkway from 1 to 6 p.m. Enjoy music, artists, merchants and restaurants. At 4 p.m., there is a free Hawaiian music concert on the lawn at Hulihe`e Palace.   Take a 3 hour walk back through time in the place where Captain Cook first landed in Waimea.  Learn about the last King of Kaua`i, the missionaries, and other famous citizens of Waimea and the landmarks they left behind.
