Friday Evenings:
Hanapepe Friday Night Festival & Art Walk.  Stroll through the many art galleries in historic Old Town Hanapepe and meet the local artists from 6 to 9 p.m.  Enjoy shopping at local vendors, several restaurants, art galleries, stilt walkers, classic cars, live music and entertainment.  For information call (808) 335-6469.

Throughout the Month of July: 
Obon Dance & Festival.  The Obon tradition was brought to Hawai`i by Japanese immigrants and evolved into a social and cultural event, as well as a religious custom designed to honor ancestors through an evening of dance, music and merry-making.  Free.  Festivities and Dance schedules and locations are listed below (subject to change):

Friday, July 7: 
Free Movie Night – Independence Day. Bring your blankets, lounge on the lawn and enjoy an evening under the stars. Every Friday: 
Aloha Fridays at Hawai`i Volcanoes National Park.  A free hands-on demonstration lesson is given in a cultural craft that varies each week. Volcano Art Center Gallery porch in Hawai`i Volcanoes National Park. 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Free (donations welcome); park entrance fees may apply. Friday, July 7: 
First Friday at the Hawai`i State Art Museum.  Free, family-friendly evening at the Hawai`i State Art Museum. Galleries will be open late, with live entertainment in the Sculpture Lobby (second floor). Seating will be provided.  All ages welcome.  Parking available across South Hotel St. in the Ali`i Place building, or street parking in the area.
