Kawaii Kon.  Kawaii Kon is a 3-day convention that celebrates Japanese anime (cartoons), manga (comics), and all facets of Japanese culture. It offers a variety of events and activities throughout the weekend. From video games, table top games, costume contests, thousands of manga to read, a talent-filled Artist Alley, an expansive Dealer’s Room, formal ball, there is something for everyone. All ages are welcome at the convention. Children under 5 years old get in free, and ages 5-12 can enjoy the Kon at a lower child-rate for their membership. It is required that children under the age of 13 be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Also offered are a few adult only events, where entry will require a government issued ID to verify age. First Friday at Hawai`i State Art Museum.  Free, family-friendly evening at the Hawai`i State Art Museum. Galleries will be open late, including the “I Love Art” hands-on play area.
