Kaua`i Humane Society’s Paws for Celebration Annual Gala

Kaua`i Humane Society’s Paws for Celebration Annual Gala.  A benefit event for Kaua`i Humane Society held at the Sheraton in Poipu, outdoors by Lava’s restaurant near the beach. Helping Paws Visitor Volunteer Program

Every Wednesday and Thursday: 
Helping Paws Visitor Volunteer Program.  Do you miss your pet when traveling? Visitors can offer a “helping paw” to homeless animals at the Maui Humane Society shelter, located in Pu`unene (central Maui), on Mokulele Hwy. between Kihei and Kahului. 1 to 3 p.m. Help with such activities as walking dogs, bathing puppies, brushing cats, or playing with puppies and kittens. Arrive by 1 p.m. and wear close-toed shoes and comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty. For Maui visitors only.  Children age 10 to 17 are welcome when accompanied by a supervising adult for the duration. Masters of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Concert

Masters of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Concert.  Host and slack key guitar master George Kahumoku, Jr. is joined by various renowned slack key masters who are true ambassadors of their music, their culture and their land for an evening of traditional Hawaiian songs and authentic “talk-story”.  May 4 – No Show Scheduled; May 11 – Led Ka`apana; May 18 – Nathan Aweau; May 25 – Kawika Kahiapo. Kuhio Beach Hawaiian Hula Show

Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday & Sunday evenings (weather permitting): 
Kuhio Beach Hawaiian Hula Show.  Hula halau are invited from around the island and other locations to perform under the big banyan tree at Kuhio Beach in Waikiki.  The evening starts off with fun tiki torch lighting ceremony at 6 p.m.  Live Hawaiian music and hula performances go on for one hour.  Seating is limited and can get crowded, so come early to get a good view of the performance.
