Maui Steel Guitar Festival.  The festival features performances, presentations, workshops and kanikapila (jam sessions) focused on the Hawaiian steel guitar and its importance in the Hawaiian music genre. In addition, an ongoing series of cultural activities such as hula, lei making and ukulele takes place throughout the weekend. Chinese Kite Festival

Friday & Saturday, April 15 & 16: 
Chinese Kite Festival.  Celebrate the colorful world of kites during a traditional Chinese Kite Festival at the Wo Hing Museum, 858 Front St., Lahaina, on Friday from 1 to 7 p.m. Enjoy an exhibit of handmade kites. Make your own kite or purchase one of the many kites for sale. There will be Chinese music and entertainment as well as Chinese delicacies to purchase. On Saturday, go fly a kite! This family event takes place at the Keka`a North Beach Open Space near the Old Airport Beach in Ka`anapali from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Watch aerial displays of acrobatic sport kites from Hawai`i Kiteflyers Association.
