Emalani Elua. Hawai`i Youth Opera presents an opera based on the life of Queen Emma Rooke (Queen consort to King Kamehameha IV). The act II part of the opera will focus on the Queen’s life following the death of her husband and child, her travels to Europe, the founding of the Priory School, and her political aspirations. Joined by the Nuuanu Elementary 5th Grade, Kawaiolaonapukanileo and the UH Manoa Hawaiian Chorus. St. Andrew’s Cathedral, 229 Queen Emma Square, Honolulu. Saturday – 7 p.m., Sunday – 3 p.m. Free. Hula Kahiko Informance: Na kumu hula Pelehonuamea Harman and Kekoa Harman with Halau I ka Leo Ola o Na Mamo . Hula halau from across Hawai`i and beyond have been invited to perform in a one-of-a-kind outdoor setting at the kahua hula (platform) in the Hawai`i Volcanoes National Park, located just a short walking distance from the Volcano Art Gallery in an area known as Ka`auea. 10:30 a.m. Audience members are encouraged to bring sun/rain gear and sitting mat.
