Slack Key Guitar Concerts

Slack Key Guitar Concerts. Traditional Hawaiian slack key guitar and `ukulele concerts. November 2 – Hanalei Slack Key Guitar & Ukulele Concert; November 9 – Legends of Slack Key Guitar & Ukulele Concert; November 16 – Honoring Raymond Kane; November 23 – Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar & Ukulele Concert; November 30 – Hawai`i’s Sunset Music. Tickets: $20 ($15 keiki/seniors). The concerts are nahenahe – soft and sweet.  Slack key guitar and `ukulele in the real old style.  All traditional music with songs and stories of the islands, telling the history of this Hawaiian musical art form. Voted 2014 Best Live Show in Hawai`i by Hawai`i Magazine Readers’ Choice Awards. A portion of the proceeds supports the Hale Halawai `Ohana `O Hanalei. Dessert Fantasy 2014

Dessert Fantasy 2014. Along with all the decadent desserts, there will be entertainment, a silent auction and voting by the public for the best 2014 dessert. All proceeds from the event will stay in the islands and help support, “life without limits for people with disabilities.” Pacific Beach Hotel, 2490 Kalakaua Ave., Honolulu. 1 to 3 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Anuhea

Anuhea. Born on the island of Maui, music has been in Anuhea’s family for generations. Her father is from the surfing culture of Haleiwa, on the North Shore of Oahu. His younger sister, Nalani, is part of the award winning contemporary Hawaiian music trio, Na Leo Pilimehana. Anuhea’s mother, an Oregon native, comes from a musical family as well; her father is a jazz and blues guitarist. Anuhea will play with a full backup.   Kahilu Theatre, 67-118 Lindsey Rd., Kamuela.
