48th Annual Makawao Paniolo Parade
Saturday, July 6:
48th Annual Makawao Paniolo Parade. Theme: Hanohano Nā Paniolo (Distinguished are the Paniolo). Stick Horses Race at 8:45 a.m., Parade begins at 9:00 a.m. No parking in town. Roads will be closed. Park at the Oski Rice Arena Rodeo Grounds on Olinda Road and take the free shuttle. For information call (808) 572-9565.

Obon Dance & Festival. The Obon tradition was brought to Hawaii by Japanese immigrants and evolved into a social and cultural event, as well as a religious custom designed to honor ancestors through an evening of dance, music and merry-making. Festivities and Dance schedules and locations are listed below:
